Issue

The installer does not start properly, and despite the following message, the logs directory was not created, and neither was the log:

Installation of the package "snapcenter_linux_host_plugin.bin" failed on the host "<HOSTNAME.DOMAIN>" with ErrorCode:208, error: Verifying JVM.. Installation logs have been placed under the directory "/var/opt/snapcenter/logs/" on the host.

When trying the installation manually, i.e.

  1. moving the Linux installation file to the Linux host using using WinSCP,
  2. setting export LAX_DEBUG=true and
  3. running the installation file with the same parameters without the silent option,

the following error can be found in the temporarily extracted installation directory:

[root@HOSTNAME] /tmp/install.dir.70165 # cat temp.lax
lax.user.dir=/tmp/install.dir.70165
lax.resource.dir=Linux
lax.class.path=/tmp/install.dir.70165/InstallerData:/tmp/install.dir.70165/InstallerData/installer.zip
lax.main.class=com.zerog.ia.installer.Main
lax.main.method=main
lax.nl.message.vm.not.loaded=The installer either could not find a Java VM, or the Java VM on this system is too old. The installer requires Java 1.1.5 or later. It can be downloaded from http://java.sun.com/products/jdk/1.1/jre/
