Cataloging the backup fails with RMAN-03009 and ORA-15370 errors

Issue

During the cataloging phase of the backup, RMAN fails with:

RMAN-03009: failure of catalog command on default channel at
ORA-19625: error identifying file +SC_<ID>_<ORASID>_<JOB_ID>\/\/datafile\/undotbs1.277.1044883115
ORA-17503: ksfdopn:2 Failed to open file +SC_<ID>_<ORASID>_<JOB_ID>\/\/datafile\/undotbs1.277.1044883115
ORA-15001: diskgroup \"SC_<ID>_<ORASID>_<JOB_ID>\" does not exist or is not mounted
ORA-15370: database version needs to be 12.1 or higher to access a disk group number higher than 63
