Backup fails because NetTcpPortSharing and SMCore services fail to start

Issue

  • Backups fail after SnapCenter plug-in host restarts.
  • Windows System Event Log on the host reports errors like below.
    • Source: Service Control Manager
      Event ID: 7009
      Message: A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the NetTcpPortSharing service to connect.
    • Source: Service Control Manager
      Event ID: 7000
      Message: The NetTcpPortSharing service failed to start due to the following error: 
      The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
    • Source: Service Control Manager
      Event ID: 7001
      Message : The SnapCenter SMCore Service service depends on the Net.Tcp Port Sharing Service service which failed to start because of the following error: 
      The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
