Applies to

  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Oracle (SCO)
  • Oracle Data Guard (DG) Standby database

Issue

Issues found during backup and cloning an Oracle DG Standby database:

  • SnapCenter creates Snapshots on the archive log volume during the offline/mount backup of a DG Standby database
  • After cloning a DG Standby database, archive log mode is enabled for the clone, and the archive log volume is cloned as well

Since archive logs can take a lot of room and have a lot of changes between snapshots, involvement of these may not be wanted.
