Why are my files zero-byte during and after NDMP restore?

Answer

  • This is because in phase 2 of NDMP restore, empty files and directories are created
  • They are then filled with data in phase 3 of the restore
  • So, if the restore is in phase 2 or fail before phase 3 is completed, for whatever reason, that will leave files as zero-byte
