Slow or failing NDMP backup due to MediaAgent resources constraints

Issue

  • Backup is slow with sufficient controller and network resources
  • Failures may be seen in the backup or NDMP logs
  • Packet trace for the data connection shows that the MediaAgent was sending zero windows to the NetApp NDMP server
  • The receiver’s window size is a mechanism used by TCP to prevent the source from overwhelming the destination
  • ONTAP's latency is low
