How to identify which resources are available through NDMP based on LIF type
Applies to
- Clustered Data ONTAP
- ONTAP 9.x
Description
Clustered Data ONTAP has different roles for Logical Interfaces (LIFs).
In clustered Data ONTAP 8.2 and later, 'scopes' were introduced to the NDMP configuration to better align with the general clustered Data ONTAP configuration.
There are 2 NDMP scopes: ‘node-scope’ and ‘Vserver-scope’.
- Node-scope is per node and is configured much like NDMP in Data ONTAP 7-Mode.
- Vserver-scope is per Vserver and is matched to the virtual servers.
Not all cluster resources will be available through NDMP. The NDMP 'scope,' along with the LIF type, will have a significant impact on the availability of NDMP resources.
