"log init failed.Unable to retrieve CLI history" error while running supportsave or any dump commands

Issue

  • Any dump commands like errdump or auditdump, as well as supportsave would not provide the expected output, but only the following error:

SWITCH01:admin> auditdump -s
No messages.
log init failed.Unable to retrieve CLI history.
Failed to open CLI history file.

SWITCH01:admin> supportsave
sh: /dev/NULL: Read-only file system
Failed to open supportsave debug file /var/log/sslog
Failed to open ss module log file /var/log/ss_module_log
Failed to open SS_DEBUG
log init failed.Unable to retrieve CLI history.
Failed to open CLI history file.

  • Getting below error while trying to add a new user.

uspa4c0aisan000:admin> userconfig --add xxxxxx -r admin  -d "INFRA-23849" -p xxxxxxxxx
sqlite3_exec error: 8 attempt to
write a readonly database
Failed to add user account
log init failed.Unable to retrieve CLI history.
Failed to open CLI history
file.

  • After a FabOS update to v. 8.2.2a, the root of the switch ( / ) switched to read-only (ro):

cat /proc/mounts :
rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0
dev/hda2 / ext3 ro,noatime,data=ordered 0 0
/proc /proc proc rw,nodiratime 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts rw 0 0
none /tmp ramfs rw 0 0
