Windows Cluster VMware RDM disk is in failed state and not able to auto online after Unplanned Switchover

Issue

  • After MetroCluster USO, Windows 2012 Cluster disk(the VMware RDM disk) is in failed state and not able to auto online, this caused the disk resource and related SQL service can not be started automatically, but the disk can be online manually without problem.
  • The issue will not happen if perform negotiated switchover (NSO)
