Last Updated:

Applies to

  • MetroCluster IP
  • ONTAP 9
  • N3K-C3232C MetroCluster switches
  • CLUSTER NETWORK DEGRADED
  • Non-MetroCluster can be effected.

Issue

  • After rebooting one or more MetroCluster switches, some of the interfaces in port-channels are in a suspended state

Example:

`show interface brief`
...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ethernet        VLAN    Type Mode   Status  Reason                 Speed     Port
Interface                                                                    Ch #
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
...
Eth1/15         1       eth  trunk  down    suspended(no LACP PDUs)  100G(D) 10
Eth1/16         1       eth  trunk  down    suspended(no LACP PDUs)  100G(D) 10

  • If you reboot multiple switches and encounter this error, you may encounter experience cluster network degredation

Example:

Thu Dec 02 12:12:29 +0100 [NodeA-01: vifmgr: callhome.clus.net.degraded:alert]: Call home for CLUSTER NETWORK DEGRADED: Large MTU Packet Loss - Ping failures detected between NodeA-01_cluster2 ( 1.2.3.4 ) on PCMSTG201 and NodeA-02_cluster1 ( 1.2.3.4 ) on NodeA-02
