How to troubleshoot a degraded drive channel (E-Series)

This KB contains some basic troubleshooting steps that can be taken when a degraded drive channel is reported.

It is important to understand that a drive channel can only be reported in a single state at any given time, Optimal, Degraded, or Failed. Therefore, even if the degradation is isolated to a specific component the entire drive channel will report as degraded.
