Answer

With the release of AIQUM 9.7 several changes and enhancements went into the headroom calculations. These changes improved the reporting for Performance Capacity Used (PCU).

The changes were:
  • Improved algorithm – Remote traffic was incorporated inaccurately within ONTAP which affected PCU in Unified Manager. 
  • Eliminate gaps in Performance Capacity data seen in Unified Manager   
  • Enhancement was made to bring the PCU data at the 5 minute average as the rest of the counters are for consistency – previously in UM 9.6 it was a one-minute estimate.  

Below is an example of how the PCU and Available IOPs changed after upgrading to AIQUM 9.7.
