Can I remove accidentally purchased disks from a CVO instance?
Applies to
- NetApp Cloud Manager (Service Connector)
- NetApp Cloud Volumes ONTAP (CVO)
- Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Answer
Disks that are already part of an aggregate can only be removed by deleting that aggregate from the Service Connector. Shrinking aggregates is not possible. Aggregates must be deleted from the Service Connector which will also delete disks from the cloud provider backend. If aggregates are deleted outside the Service Connector, they will remain as spare and need to be removed manually.
Note: removing spare/orphaned disks is not the same as removing disks that are already part of an aggregate. As mentioned, disks assigned to an aggregate can ONLY be removed by deleting the aggregate itself.
