  • FCP SAN
  • SnapDrive for Windows (SDW) 7.1.x
  • SnapCenter Plug-in for Windows (SCW) 4.x

Description

SnapDrive for Windows refuses to increase the size of a LUN beyond the given size.

The ONTAP lun resize command fails with the error that the maximum size has been reached.

Limitations depend on the ONTAP version:

  • In ONTAP 9.4 and earlier, you can only grow your LUN to approximately 10 times its original size, but not greater than 16 TB.
  • In ONTAP 9.5, you can grow the LUN up to 16 TB regardless of its original size.
  • In ONTAP 9.8 and later you can grow the lun to 128 TB in ASA configurations.
  • In ONTAP 9.12.1P2 and later, you can grow the lun to 128 TB in AFF, FAS and ASA configurations.

Warning: Solaris LUNs cannot be resized due to their partitioning scheme.
